Khaberni - Khaberni - Dr. Mohammad Suleimanov, an oncology specialist, indicates that consuming very spicy foods and hot beverages consistently may increase the risk of cancer.
The doctor warned that excessive consumption of spicy foods and hot beverages may increase the risk of stomach and esophageal cancer, both of which are among the most dangerous types of cancer, according to Russian media.
He explained that this risk arises from the recurrent exposure of the mucous membranes of the stomach and esophagus to very hot or spicy foods and beverages, leading to chronic inflammation which increases the likelihood of malignant tumor development. He said:
"The disease can be controlled and treated if detected early, but in advanced stages, it remains a major cause of death among sufferers, and the severity of the disease depends on the stage of detection".
Dr. Suleimanov added that the process involves the mucous tissues continually trying to regenerate, leading to intense cellular division. Over time, some cells may divide abnormally, leading to cancerous tumor growth.
To reduce this risk, the doctor recommended adopting a healthy lifestyle, clarifying that it is not necessary to completely avoid usual spicy foods or hot beverages like morning coffee or winter soup, but it is important to avoid direct exposure to extreme heat as much as possible.
He emphasized waiting a few minutes to let hot beverages cool down, and to reduce the use of salt and spicy seasonings in salads and main dishes.
