Launch of the International Falcon Racing Competitions in UAE

Khaberni - The Falcon Racing competitions commence on Monday within the events of the Liwa International Festival 2026, featuring elite falconers.

The races are held over 3 days, where the first day tomorrow includes competitions for the category "Farkh" of the owners, allowing participation of up to 4 falcons per owner, with one falcon per round. The rounds include categories of Gyr Shaheen, Gyr Peregrine, Gyr Qarmoosha, and Gyr Tabaa.

Competitions continue on the second day within the international festival, with competitions in the "Farkh" professionals’ category, while the third day features competitions in the Gyrnas category.

The organizing committee announced in a statement today that the race is 400 meters long, starting at eight in the morning, applying the highest standards of organization and safety endorsed in heritage races.

It was also confirmed that all preparations for the race are complete, after the registration closed according to the approved schedule, conducting the designated lotteries for the rounds, and setting a maximum participation limit of 50 falcons per round, to ensure fairness and honorable competition among the participants.

It added that the falcon racing enjoys significant public interest within the Liwa International Festival, as it represents an important milestone in the agenda of heritage events that contribute to preserving cultural heritage and enhancing its presence for future generations.
