Khaberni - The West Amman Misdemeanor Court sentenced two cancer patients to memorize Surahs from the Holy Quran after referring them to a Quran memorization center in Jabal al-Hussein area as an alternative punishment.
In two separate cases, the court convicted the first patient of resisting security personnel, and the second patient was convicted in a traffic accident case. An alternative punishment was applied to each.
According to Al-Ghad daily, the decision by the Misdemeanor judge in Amman required each of them to memorize Surahs from the Holy Quran for 48 hours, at a rate of five hours per day.
The judge decided to enroll the two cancer patients in a rehabilitation program due to their health conditions, noting that both of them were convicted in two separate cases.
The West Amman Court has applied more than 300 alternative community punishments since the beginning of this year.
