Khaberni - The First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Khamis Atiyah, expressed his sorrow and regret regarding the painful death incidents that the kingdom has recently witnessed, whether those resulting from food poisoning, heating incidents, or other avoidable causes if there had been serious oversight and strict law enforcement.
Atiyah, in a press statement, emphasized that the repetition of these incidents raises serious questions about the mechanisms of oversight and public safety, and the responsibility of the relevant authorities in protecting the lives of citizens, insisting that any negligence or failure in performing supervisory duties must not go without strict accountability.
He called on the government to take immediate and firm measures to review the safety and oversight systems, and activate inspection and follow-up tools, especially regarding food safety, heating methods, and public use facilities, affirming that prevention is much less costly than dealing with disasters after they occur.
He insisted on the necessity of announcing the results of investigations with transparency in front of the public, and holding accountable anyone found to be negligent or lenient, regardless of their position, confirming that the House of Representatives will fully perform its supervisory role to ensure that such tragedies do not recur, and to protect the right of Jordanians to a safe and dignified life.
He stressed that these tragedies cannot be minimized or justified as seasonal accidents or linked only to heating methods, as there have been other incidents that required handling from the beginning with a spirit of national responsibility and institutional readiness, not merely as a reaction after it is too late.
He emphasized that protecting the lives of citizens is an integrated responsibility that does not accept fragmentation or justification, and that any leniency or negligence, whatever its type or source, warrants accountability and accountability without exception, because the lives of Jordanians are not a field for error or neglect.
