Khaberni - The Faculty of Arts at Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan, in collaboration with the English Department, organized an English reading competition for all university students, supervised by Dr. Maha Al-Qadi. The competition saw extensive participation from students of the faculties of Arts, Law, Business, Pharmacy, Engineering, and Nursing, in addition to the Faculty of Science. The organization of the competition aimed to enhance the students' reading and linguistic analysis skills and to encourage them to use English in reading and expressing themselves with confidence and efficiency.
The competition included literary texts that were available for students to read and analyze, and their performance was evaluated based on criteria of linguistic accuracy, fluency, and content understanding. The students' participation demonstrated an outstanding level of English language skills.
In this context, the Faculty of Arts strives to hone the English communication skills of students and prepare them for the job market as enhancing these linguistic abilities is a fundamental part of the college's learning outcomes.
The competition experienced notable interaction among students from different university faculties, providing them with opportunities to exchange reading experiences and engage in meaningful discussions about the content of the texts, which contributed to the development of their analytical thinking.
