Gmail launches new feature to organize mail and get rid of spam

Khaberni - A large number of users suffer from an accumulation of email in their inbox due to subscribing to dozens of mailing lists without realizing it, however, the Gmail application on smartphones now provides a practical solution to this problem through the "Manage Subscriptions" feature, which allows the grouping of mailing lists in one place and unsubscribing from them easily.

Google announced earlier this summer the new feature, confirming that it will gradually reach the web version and the Gmail app on Android and iOS systems in several countries, and it appears that the feature has reached some devices during the "Black Friday" period, which is the time when promotional messages from stores increase.

Users today are able to manage their mailing list subscriptions directly from the app and get rid of unwanted promotional messages and newsletters, whether they received those messages intentionally or they found their way into their mail without their knowledge.

How to use the Manage Subscriptions feature in Gmail, according to "Thomas Jaid".

1- Accessing the Manage Subscriptions tool

From within the Gmail app, you can press the side menu button (three horizontal lines at the top left). After the menu appears, select Manage Subscriptions, which may display a "New" alert when used for the first time.

2- Choosing the mailing lists to unsubscribe from

The Manage Subscriptions page displays an alphabetical list of all the mailing lists the user is subscribed to, showing the number of messages each source has recently sent, which helps identify the most annoying entities.

By simply pressing the envelope icon next to any mailing list, a notification appears confirming the desire to unsubscribe, and after confirmation, the user is automatically returned to the management page to notice that the list that was unsubscribed from has disappeared, with a confirmation message at the bottom of the screen.

In most cases, the unsubscribe process takes place within Gmail itself, but with some messages, the user may need to visit the sender's website to complete the process, and it is also possible to block messages from any sender entirely.

Although the feature significantly facilitates email management, Gmail does not provide an option for mass unsubscription, as each list must be dealt with individually. It seems that this option is intended to prevent users from deleting useful newsletters they intentionally follow, especially those that are paid or relied upon daily.

The feature is currently available in the Gmail app on Android devices, and its availability on iOS has also been confirmed, providing users of both systems with a unified and effective way to organize their mail and reduce digital clutter in their inbox.
