Agreement to Install Solar Water Heating Systems in 33 Government Hospitals

Khaberni - The Ministries of Energy and Mineral Resources and Health signed, on Sunday, an agreement to install solar water heating systems in government hospitals.

The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, stated that this agreement helps in increasing reliance on renewable energy, as it also contributes to saving on fuel consumption in the targeted hospitals and achieving a financial saving exceeding a quarter million Jordanian dinars annually.

Al-Kharabsheh pointed out that the number of targeted hospitals amounts to 33, noting that the first phase included signing with 9 hospitals in the north of the kingdom.

He added that the project is financed 90% by the Italian Ministry of Environment, and 10% by the Energy Support Fund.

On his part, the Minister of Health, Ibrahim Al-Badour, said that the project is strategic for the health sector, noting that the hospitals were selected based on scientific criteria depending on the size of consumption.

Al-Badour added that the project will positively reflect on reducing fuel consumption, and the savings will be redirected to other services, emphasizing that the project reflects Jordan's commitment to environmental conservation and emission reduction.
