Khaberni - Former Syrian Minister of Culture Dr. Riyad Naasan Agha passed away in the United Arab Emirates after a battle with illness, at the age of 78.
Riyad was born in Idlib in 1947 and completed his studies in Arabic literature and Islamic philosophy, presenting theses on media, globalization, and Arab contributions to the European Renaissance.
Agha began his professional career as a teacher of Arabic literature in Idlib high schools, before moving Khaberni to work in Syrian television, where he held positions as Director of Programs and Dramatic Production.
He also served as a member of the People's Council, was a political advisor to the late Syrian President Hafez al-Assad, and held Khaberni diplomatic positions as Syria's ambassador to Oman and the Emirates.
