Khaberni - Authorities found American actor Peter Green deceased in his apartment in the Lower East Side of New York City on Friday afternoon, as confirmed by his artistic manager to the press.
Green, aged 60, had made his mark in the 1990s through his roles as a villain on screen.
Details of the incident and discovery of the body
Police arrived at the actor's apartment on Clinton Street around 3:25 PM, where they found Green unconscious.
Doctors declared him dead at the scene immediately, according to police statements and his manager Greg Edwards, who had worked with him for over ten years.
The police denied any suspicion of foul play, indicating that the medical examiner will determine the official cause of death, according to the "New York Post".
A career filled with unforgettable roles
Green was famous for his role in the movie "The Mask," which he starred in with Jim Carrey and Cameron Diaz, where he played the character Dorian Tyrell, a role his manager considered the best in his artistic career.
The actor also appeared in the film "Pulp Fiction" directed by Quentin Tarantino in 1994, where he played Zed the security guard and serial killer.
His artistic career extended to include about 95 cinematic works, among them "The Usual Suspects," "Laws of Gravity," "Clean Shaven," "Blue Streak," and "Training Day."
A cinematic project halted before its commencement
Green was preparing to start shooting an independent film titled "Mascots" next January with actor Mickey Rourke.
Edwards informed the writer and director of the film, Kerry Mondragon, of the death, whereupon the latter broke down in tears, as mentioned by the manager.
Edwards described the deceased as "a wonderful person" and "one of the greatest actors of his generation," adding that his heart was big and that he would miss him as a dear friend.
A journey from the streets to Hollywood
Green was born in Montclair, New Jersey, and ran away from his family home at the age of fifteen to live on the streets of New York, where he got involved in drugs and trafficking, as revealed in an interview with Premiere magazine in 1996.
The actor attempted suicide in March 1996, then underwent treatment for addiction afterwards, known for being a perfectionist who gave his all to every role despite the reputation he earned for being difficult to work with on set.
