Khaberni - Khaldoun Al-Najjar, brother of one of the deceased due to inhaling the gas emitted from heater "Al-Shamooseh", said his brother died with his wife and two of their sons, leaving only two daughters remaining.
In radio statements, Al-Najjar clarified that his brother used the heater inside a room with a sliding door, which means it was not completely sealed, indicating that the initial discovery pointed out that the family members were not asleep at the time of death, except for one of the sons.
He added that relatives of his brother's wife were visiting the family, and when they noticed no response from inside the house, they opened the door, only to be shocked by the death of all family members.
This incident is part of a series of deaths caused by inhaling the gas leaked from "Al-Shamooseh" heaters, which have been repeatedly warned about by the General Security Directorate.
The spokesperson for the General Security Directorate announced on Saturday that the ambulance teams of the Civil Defense in West Amman dealt with the death of a 19-year-old in the area of Marj Al-Hamam, due to breathing difficulties caused by the same type of heater.
He explained that the heater causing the incidents is popularly known as "Al-Shamooseh", is produced by several local factories, and emphasized the necessity of not using them under any circumstances until the results of the technical examinations are issued from the Royal Scientific Society.
He also confirmed that the relevant authorities formed a joint investigation committee, seized 5000 heaters within the factories, temporarily banned their sale in the market, and sent samples for technical examination to determine the cause of the death and suffocation incidents.
The General Security Directorate emphasized the need to ventilate homes continuously, not to use hoses longer than one and a half meters, and to educate others about the dangers of these heaters, and to communicate the warning to everyone who uses them.
