Khaberni - The head of the Azm parliamentary bloc, Deputy Dr. Walid Al-Masri, confirmed that the unfortunate fatality incidents resulting from the use of unsafe heaters, the most recent being the asphyxiation cases due to what is known as "Al-Shamusa" heaters, place direct responsibilities on the regulatory and executive bodies involved, emphasizing that the recurrence of these tragedies reveals a severe malfunction in the system of standards, supervision, and consumer protection.
Al-Masri stated that the essential question is no longer how the disaster happened, but rather who allowed these heaters into the market, who overlooked their dangers, and who was negligent in inspecting and following up, emphasizing that the responsibility does not fall on the citizen alone but starts from the authorities that granted the approvals, passes through the regulatory bodies, and ends at the weakness of withdrawal and prohibition procedures.
Al-Masri called on the Ministry of Industry and Trade to urgently and transparently open the file on the technical specifications of heaters, review the mechanisms for issuing conformity certificates, tighten control over importers and traders, and make immediate decisions to withdraw any product that threatens public safety without hesitation or favoritism.
He added that protecting the lives of citizens is a national responsibility that does not accept delay or justification, demanding that the results of the investigations be announced to the public, and holding accountable everyone proven to be negligent or lax, along with intensifying serious awareness campaigns that prioritize citizen safety.
Al-Masri concluded his remarks by praying for the victims, saying: May God have mercy on those we lost in these painful incidents, and we ask God for safety for our people, and that this tragedy serves as a real alarm bell that prevents its recurrence in the future.
