Khaberni - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates strongly condemned the Israeli government's approval and legalization of 19 illegal colonial settlements in the occupied West Bank; seeing this as a blatant violation of international law, international humanitarian law, an undermining of the two-state solution efforts, and a clear violation of the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to self-determination, to end the occupation, and to establish their independent sovereign state based on the June 4, 1967 lines with its capital in occupied Jerusalem, emphasizing that Israel has no sovereignty over the occupied West Bank.
The official spokesperson for the ministry, Ambassador Fouad Al-Majali, confirmed the kingdom's condemnation and absolute rejection of the extremist Israeli government's ongoing settlement projects and plans in the occupied West Bank, which represent a consolidation of occupation and settlement expansion, and a clear undermining of the international will for two-state solution efforts, as well as a violation of international law and international legitimacy resolutions, particularly United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334 which condemns all Israeli actions aimed at altering the demographic composition, character, and status of the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem, in addition to the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice which confirmed the illegality of the Israeli occupation of Palestinian land and the invalidity of the settlement construction and annexation measures in the occupied West Bank.
Al-Majali called on the international community to uphold its legal and ethical responsibilities and to compel Israel to stop its dangerous escalation and its illegitimate and unilateral actions in the occupied West Bank, and to meet the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost of which is establishing their independent state on their national territory; as the only way to achieve a just and comprehensive peace that ensures security and stability in the region.
