New death due to heater gas and the reservation of 5000 shumousa heaters

Khaberni - ** Public Security: A new death of a young man in the capital due to suffocation caused by the same heater, and it reiterates the emphasis on not using those commonly known "shumousa" heaters in all types.

** A joint governmental investigation committee has been formed from all relevant agencies to oversee all circumstances.

** All samples from heaters from factories, stores, and homes where inhabitants suffered suffocation have been sent to the Royal Scientific Society to conduct tests on them and identify flaws.

** Proactively, 5000 heaters have been reserved within factories manufacturing them in addition to prohibiting their sale in stores pending technical reports from the Royal Scientific Society.

** We renew our reaffirmation on continuously ventilating homes and intermittently to avoid the accumulation of toxic gases, as well as using hoses no longer than one and a half meters.

** "Shumousa" is the common name among people for that type of heater and is produced by several factories.

** We renew our warning to everyone not to use that type of heaters, and to contribute to spreading this warning within their social circle until the final technical reports are issued.

** Everything taken by governmental bodies and security apparatuses is precautionary out of concern for citizen safety until the safety of those products is confirmed.

The spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate stated that the ambulance teams in the West Amman Civil Defense Directorate dealt today with the death of a person aged (19), due to respiratory distress caused by the same warned heater, in the Marj Al-Hamam area in the capital province.

The spokesperson confirmed that a joint governmental investigation committee was formed from all relevant and security agencies to oversee all circumstances accompanied by cases of suffocation and death, and to identify the flaws.

The spokesperson confirmed that a precautionary reservation of 5000 heaters has been made inside factories that manufacture them, in addition to prohibiting their sale in retail stores.

He added that all samples from heaters, taken from factories, stores, and homes where residents suffered suffocation, were sent to the Royal Scientific Society for testing to determine the causes of deaths.

The spokesperson emphasized the need for everyone not to use that type of heater, commonly known among people as "shumousa," which is the colloquial name and produced by several factories, under any circumstances until the issuance of technical reports from the competent authorities.

The spokesperson also emphasized the necessity of home ventilation on a continuous basis and intermittently, to avoid the accumulation of toxic gases and also to use hoses no longer than one and a half meters.

He also exhorted everyone to communicate this warning to their surroundings and to any person they know uses that type of heaters, describing it as a precautionary and highly important and dangerous warning.
