Khaberni - The Civil Defense Directorate in the General Security Directorate warned about the reduction of oxygen levels in homes when using heaters in closed spaces regardless of their type.
The Civil Defense Directorate stated that the reduction of oxygen levels is faster than expected when using any type of heater in closed spaces, regardless of the capacity and area of those spaces.
It pointed out that the combustion products of combustible materials used for heatingproduce carbon dioxide gas, which is suffocating, and the oxygen gas decreases due to a lack of ventilation, which leads to the production of toxic carbon monoxide gas.
It clarified that the presence of these gases in a confined space, along with the decrease in oxygen, leads to blood poisoning and death.
The Directorate emphasized the necessity of good ventilation in areas where heaters are used, which helps to balance the oxygen gas concentrations necessary for the respiration process.
It should be noted that 9 people from two different families have died in the last two days in the Zarqa Governorate due to heater gas leakage, as announced by the General Security Directorate.
