Sources America withheld intelligence information from Israel during Bidens tenure

Khaberni - Six informed sources stated that US intelligence officials temporarily suspended the exchange of some essential information with Israel during the administration of former President Joe Biden due to concerns relating to the management of war conduct in Gaza.

In the second half of 2024, the United States cut off live streaming from an American drone over Gaza, which was being used by the Israeli government in pursuing prisoners and Hamas fighters.

Five sources stated that this suspension lasted for several days at least.

Two of the sources mentioned that the United States also restricted how Israel could use some intelligence information in its efforts to target critical military sites in Gaza.

The two sources refused to specify when this decision was made. All sources insisted on anonymity to discuss US intelligence information.

The decision came as the American intelligence community's concerns increased about the number of civilians killed in Israeli military operations in Gaza.

Three sources said that officials also expressed concerns about Israel not providing sufficient assurances of its commitment to the laws of war when using American information.

Under US law, intelligence agencies must obtain these assurances before sharing information with any foreign country.

Two sources mentioned that the decision to withhold information within the intelligence agencies was limited and tactical, and the Biden administration continued its policy of ongoing support for Israel through the exchange of intelligence information and arms.

Sources reported that officials sought to ensure that Israel used American intelligence information in accordance with the laws of war.

An informed source stated that intelligence officials have the authority to make some information sharing decisions immediately without needing an order from the White House.

Another informed source stated that any requests from Israel to change how it uses American intelligence information would require presenting new assurances regarding how it uses that information.
