Saudi Arabia Thwarts Smuggling of Over 368000 Amphetamine Pills

Khaberni - The Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority in Saudi Arabia thwarted the smuggling of 368,232 amphetamine pills (Captagon) at Al-Haditha port, after they were found expertly hidden inside trucks that arrived in Saudi Arabia through the port.

The official spokesperson for the Authority, Hamoud Al-Harbi, explained that upon the arrival of 3 trucks at Al-Haditha port carrying shipments of "construction stones," and after undergoing the usual customs procedures, modern security technologies and live methods revealed those large quantities of the narcotics hidden within cavities prepared in the construction materials.

The Authority, after the completion of the confiscation process, coordinated with the General Directorate for Narcotics Control to complete the field follow-up procedures and to ensure the arrest of intended recipients of the shipment within the kingdom, where two individuals involved in the attempt to receive the confiscated items were arrested.

The official spokesperson confirmed that "ZATCA" is persistently working through all its customs ports to tighten control over imports and exports, and to confront smuggling attempts in all its forms, emphasizing that thwarting such operations falls within the pillars of the Authority’s strategy aimed at enhancing community security and protecting it from drugs and other banned substances.

Al-Harbi called on community members to contribute to combating smuggling and protecting the national economy by reporting any relevant information through the designated security reports number (1910), the email ([email protected]), or the international number (009661910), assuring that the Authority receives reports with complete confidentiality, with a financial reward allocated for those who provide a correct report that contributes to uncovering smuggling crimes or violations of the unified customs system.
