Germany Seizure of more than 11000 diamonds from a traveler at the airport

Khaberni - The German news agency reported, citing customs and federal police officials, that during the inspection of a handbag of a traveler from Angola at Frankfurt airport, they found more than 11,000 diamonds which were then confiscated.

The agency clarified: "Customs officers at Frankfurt airport discovered more than 11,200 diamonds in a traveler's handbag; the 53-year-old man was coming from Angola."

It added: "The diamonds were hidden in a secret compartment, and an evaluation is underway to determine their value."

The agency mentioned that the man was unable to provide a certificate proving his ownership of the gemstones, while security forces arrested him and placed him under detention.

It pointed out that "the man faces charges of violating foreign trade law, as well as evading the import duties imposed on smuggled raw diamonds."
