Jamal ElGhandour An uncounted penalty against AlNashama in front of Iraq Video

Khaberni - Former Egyptian international referee and refereeing expert Jamal El-Ghandour said that the referee of the Jordan vs Iraq match in the Arab Cup quarter-finals did not award a valid penalty for the Jordanian team.

El-Ghandour explained that the replay showed that the Iraqi team goalkeeper obstructed Jordan's player Oday Al-Fakhouri, grabbing his leg twice, preventing him from scoring at the 85th minute of the match, which should have resulted in a penalty.

He noted that the video assistant referee (VAR) not summoning the main referee was surprising and could be due to the VAR referees not noticing the incident because of the fast pace of the game.

El-Ghandour added that the performance of the match referee was good, but did not reach a "very good" level.
