The lowpressure system revitalizes the rainy season in Jordan and improves performance with percentages ranging between 3 and

Khaberni - Today, Friday, the Director of Meteorology Raed Rafed Al-Khattab stated that the Kingdom has experienced in the past few days the effects of an active low-pressure system which clearly contributed to improving the current rainy season, after a period of decline observed in recent weeks. He confirmed that the recent precipitation formed an important boost for several areas of the Kingdom, especially the northern, central, and western regions, which positively reflected on the completion rates of the general seasonal average.

Al-Khattab explained that the Kingdom was affected since the early hours of Wednesday, 10/12/2025, by an extension of a low-pressure system centered south of the island of Cyprus, resulting in rainfall in most areas of the Kingdom including the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea. The rain was notably heavy at times especially in the north and central parts of the Kingdom and parts of the southwestern regions, accompanied by lightning, thunder, and occasionally hail, leading to the formation of floods and rising water levels in several locations, as well as the activity of southwesterly winds, particularly in the desert areas.

Al-Khattab pointed out that the highest amounts of rainfall since the start of the depression until the morning of Friday, 12/12/2025, were recorded in the Karak Governorate, where it reached at Al-Rabba station 45.5 mm at 14% of its general seasonal average, followed by Al-Salt station in Balqa Governorate with a total of 38.9 mm at 8%.
In the capital, Amman, the amount at the King Hussein Gardens station was 34.5 mm at 7%, while Queen Alia International Airport station recorded 23.8 mm at 16%.
In the north of the Kingdom, Al-Baqoura station in Irbid recorded 30.0 mm at 8%, whereas Al-Mafraq station recorded 8.2 mm at 6% of its general seasonal average.

Al-Khattab indicated that these precipitations contributed to improving the performance of the 2025/2026 rainy season with percentages ranging between 3% and 16%, making it around the general averages for this time of the season in the northern and central western regions including the Jordan Valley, and higher than its averages in other regions of the Kingdom.
