Khaberni - A message revealed on Friday that the former Iraqi President Barham Salih was chosen to be the new UN High Commissioner for Refugees.
The message, signed by Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations on December 11, stated that Salih was appointed for a term of five years starting on January 1, 2026.
The document revealed that this appointment is provisional and requires approval from the Executive Committee of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.
