Khaberni - Hani Al-Murashda, the Director of Construction at Greater Amman Municipality, stated on Thursday that the municipality declared a maximum state of emergency since Wednesday, based on forecasts from the Meteorological Department and their warnings regarding the low pressure system affecting Jordan.
Al-Murashda added to "Khaberni" that the municipality's personnel and equipment were distributed throughout the regions to be fully prepared for any emergency that may occur during the current weather depression affecting Jordan.
He mentioned that the Municipality's Emergency Room received 30 complaints, most of which related to power outages, malfunctioning traffic lights, and traffic accidents.
Greater Amman Municipality announced a water emergency state starting Wednesday morning to deal with the low pressure system affecting Jordan.
The Municipality confirmed the readiness of its field teams to deal with any reports received by the Tla' Al-Ali Emergency Room, urging citizens to contact the unified contact center numbers (102 and 117180) if they observe any issues.
The Municipality urged citizens to be cautious and avoid valleys and low-lying areas, not to connect house roof downspouts to the sewage drains to prevent flooding on the roads, and not to dispose of waste randomly as it causes the closure of rainwater drainage lines.
It also emphasized the importance of inspecting submersible pumps in floors and commercial stores located below street level and advised merchants to take precautionary measures when storing goods in warehouses and sub-grade floors.
It called upon contractors and owners of construction projects to secure building materials to prevent them from being washed away and directly causing the blockage of rainwater drainage lines.
