Khaberni - As 2025 ends, many countries have shared extraordinary narratives in the world of football, especially those that achieved a goal they had not managed to reach for decades.
This exceptional achievement is qualifying for the 2026 World Cup to be held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
Indeed, 4 national teams, including an Arab team, Jordan, qualified for the World Cup for the first time this year, alongside Uzbekistan, Curaçao, and Cape Verde.
Jordan qualified directly for the 2026 World Cup after gaining 16 points in Group Two of the third phase of the Asian qualifiers.
The Jordanian team secured their World Cup 2026 ticket with a one-point lead over Iraq, which finished third and will play in the intercontinental playoffs, path 2.
The Jordanian national team collected 16 points from 4 wins, 4 draws, and 2 losses, with the qualification happening on June 5th when they defeated Oman 3-0, taking advantage of Iraq's 0-2 fall against South Korea.
This victory extended their point lead over Iraq to 4 points, and thus Iraq's initial win over Jordan in the first round with a clean sheet was not enough.
Meanwhile, the Uzbekistan team also finished second in the Asian qualifiers, but in Group One with 21 points, just two points shy of group leader Iran and six above the third-placed UAE.
The Uzbekistan national team also secured their World Cup spot on June 5, the day Jordan qualified, after a goalless draw against the UAE at Al Nahyan Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
The draw caused the point difference between the two teams to be 4 points before the last round, which saw the UAE draw 1-1 with Kyrgyzstan and the Uzbeks win 3-0 against Qatar.
Curaçao, the island with the least population to reach the World Cup, qualified on November 18th.
Curaçao clinched the top of Group Two in the third phase of the CONCACAF qualifiers following a goalless draw with host Jamaica.
On the other hand, the Cape Verde national team became the latest African guest at the World Cup after leading the tough Group Four, which included Cameroon, Libya, Angola, Mauritius, and Eswatini.
Cape Verde's World Cup qualification happened on October 13th with a significant 3-0 win over Eswatini, raising their lead over the second-placed Cameroon to 4 points, taking advantage of the Indomitable Lions' goalless draw with Angola.
