Khaberni - The House of Representatives approved by a majority, during a session held on Thursday under the chairmanship of the council's president Mazen Al-Qadi, the draft general budget law for the fiscal year 2026, with a deficit of 2 billion and 125 million and 225 thousand dinars.
The council approved the budget for the next year after 86 deputies voted in favor of approving the budget law draft.
Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan stated that the government will finalize the 2026 budget by mid-December; to enable us to start implementing the capital projects listed therein without delay at the beginning of the next year/no room for slowdown or hesitation before the government.
Hassan added during the House of Representatives' final session to discuss the budget: I extend my deepest thanks and appreciation to the President of the House of Representatives, the chairman and members of the Financial Committee, and all members of the council for their efforts in discussing the draft general budget law for the next year, and for their inputs and valued remarks over the past days, which reflected their national responsibility, and sincere dedication to enhancing the development journey and serving the interests of Jordanian men and women in all fields.
Minister of Finance Abdelhakeem Al-Shibli, on Thursday evening, delivered the government's response to the deputies' interventions during the discussion of the budget draft for the fiscal year 2026.
During his speech in front of the House of Representatives on Thursday, the Minister of Finance, reaffirmed that the 2026 budget draft embodies the practical realization of the second phase of the economic modernization vision, focusing on quality projects in education, health, and infrastructure, which includes the establishment of 71 new schools, and an increase in health sector allocations to 71 million dinars.
