Finance Minister The government will consider salary increases in the 2027 budget

Khaberni - Finance Minister Abdelhakim Al-Shibli, stated that the government will consider salary increases for employees in 2027 that will not affect financial stability, in accordance with the directives of Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan.

On Thursday evening, Al-Shibli presented the government's response to the deputies' interventions during the discussion of the budget project for the fiscal year 2026.

During his speech before the House of Representatives on Thursday, the Finance Minister confirmed that the budget project for 2026 practically embodies the second phase of the Economic Modernisation Vision, focusing on quality projects in education, health, and infrastructure, including the establishment of 71 new schools and increasing health sector allocations to 71 million dinars.

The minister pointed out that the national economy achieved positive indicators during 2025, notably the growth of the gross domestic product by 2.7% and 2.8% in the first and second quarters respectively, inflation decreased to 1.9%, foreign reserves reached an unprecedented level of 24.6 billion dollars, and direct foreign investment increased by 36%.

He emphasized that the government is committed to reducing the deficit and public debt gradually, with an expectation to reduce the budget deficit to 3.6% of the gross domestic product by 2028, referring to a 9% increase in social protection support and that local revenues will cover 89% of the current expenditures in 2026.

The minister stressed the government's commitment to implementing the financial committee's recommendations and the deputies' comments, following up on the execution of the Economic Modernisation Vision projects, confirming that the budget relies on realism and transparency, and prioritizes support for the armed forces, enhancing financial stability, and improving services for citizens.
