Khaberni - Prime Minister Jafar Hassan said that the government is striving to complete the final stages of signing agreements and financial closure for some major projects.
Hassan explained during the concluding session of the House of Representatives discussing the 2026 budget that the government will start tendering the major part of these projects before the end of 2026; to be completed and finalized during the years 2028 – 2030, noting that they are a national strategic priority.
He continued saying, "These are not promises or wishes, but a clear declaration of what the government will implement next year and the following one."
He clarified that the projects include: "The national water carrier project, the Aqaba-Shidiya / Ma'an-Ghor Al-Safi railway, the Risha gas pipeline, and projects in the public transport, health, energy, and infrastructure sectors, including the start of the Amra city project to be the nucleus for a sovereign wealth fund, in addition to other projects."
He explained, "All these projects together have an investment value of more than 10 billion dollars, the vast majority of which are local and foreign investments; noting that we have doubled the capital expenditure on the national carrier project to reach a quarter of a billion dinars over the next four years, and allocated about 100 million dinars for the next three years for the Risha gas project."
He followed up saying, "We aim to open the way for public subscription in part of these projects in the coming stage; to expand the base of beneficiaries and participants in building these projects and benefitting from them."
He added saying, "What we have allocated for the projects and capital expenses, estimated at a billion and 600 million dinars, will be fully spent to contribute to stimulating wide economic sectors, alongside funding the start of implementing major strategic projects, for which we have made great efforts to prepare this year, and we begin implementing them this year."
