Khaberni - Formation of a committee to draft the vision and objectives for the union and a proposal for holding an Arab conference in Syria

The Arab Union for Engineering Industries held the general assembly meetings in Damascus, on Tuesday, chaired by Mohammad Daaboul, and attended by general assembly members from engineering companies across the Arab world.
Daaboul praised the achievements of the union over several years, especially in terms of reorganizing the internal affairs in the union's devices and regional offices. Then, Daaboul welcomed the general assembly members coming from outside Syria and urged the attendees to propose ideas that would restore the union's distinguished activities as they were before the pandemic.
After deliberations between the attending members in person and through Zoom, a decision was made to form a committee from the union members to draft the vision and objectives that the union will strive to achieve and to organize activities that contribute to the realization of these goals.
The general assembly approved the cancellation of the subscription fee and the unification of the annual fees into two categories for large and small companies. The attendees also agreed on attracting the elite from representatives of prominent and active organizations as affiliate members at a symbolic fee to expand the union's partnerships in the Arab world and beyond.
It is noteworthy that the union plans to organize a meeting with the Secretary-General of the Arab Economic Unity Council to present the new vision and objectives and request support in connecting with decision-makers in Arab countries and conveying the voice of the industrialists to the governments. The union also plans to submit a proposal to the council regarding an initiative to unify standards between Arab countries, which would support the goals of the Arab Economic Unity Agreement by increasing intra-Arab trade.
The director of the Union Management/representative of the Arab Economic Unity Council, who participated in the meeting via Zoom, pointed to the union's distinguished position among specialized quality Arab unions operating under the council's umbrella and confirmed that the General Secretariat of the Arab Economic Unity Council is ready to support the union in its endeavors and convey its voice to the governments through the ministerial council.
The general assembly of the union decided to hold the next annual meeting in Baghdad, and the Iraqi representative in the board of directors will suggest an appropriate date for the meeting and will coordinate with the relevant Iraqi authorities regarding entry visas.
