Khaberni - The American opera and classical singer Jubilant Sykes was fatally stabbed inside his home in Santa Monica, while authorities arrested his 31-year-old son.
According to the "Metro" newspaper, Santa Monica police announced the death of the 71-year-old artist after receiving a distress call on Monday evening at nine thirty.
Police arrived at the scene to find the singer suffering from life-threatening injuries consistent with a stabbing, according to the official police report.
Sykes was pronounced dead at the scene, while authorities found the suspect, his son Micah Sykes, inside the home and took him to the police station without resistance.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office is currently reviewing the case to formally charge the suspect with premeditated murder, according to the "Metro" newspaper.
The relevant authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the incident, as forensic teams are examining the evidence gathered from the crime scene, including the weapon used in the incident which was confiscated.
Sykes grew up in Los Angeles and began singing as a soprano during his childhood before transitioning to a professional baritone singer, performing on the world's most famous stages.
The late artist played the role of "the Celebrant" in the 2009 Grammy-nominated recording of Leonard Bernstein's musical work "Mass".
The artist performed on the stages of the Metropolitan Opera, Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Arena di Verona in Italy, Barbican Center in London, Apollo Theater, and Hollywood Bowl.
Sykes collaborated with prestigious musical groups including the London Symphony Orchestra and performed alongside notable artists such as Brian Wilson and Julie Andrews.
