Khaberni - The family of the late Egyptian artist Abdel Halim Hafez announced that they have officially started contacting the competent Kuwaiti authorities, including the Kuwaiti Attorney General, to stop two artistic concerts carrying the name "Halim," scheduled for December 11 and 12, after detecting clear violations of their rights.
The legal representative for Al-Andaleeb's family, advisor Yasser Qantoush, in an official statement, stated that the family had initially contracted with a Kuwaiti company to hold the concerts, to be presented by artists Hani Shaker and Khaled Selim, and had orally agreed to grant the company the rights to use the name and image of Abdel Halim Hafez without using any advertisements carrying his name or likeness.
However, the family - according to the statement - was surprised after signing the contracts and sending them by email that the company did not adhere to the agreement, exceeding the agreed terms by contracting with advertisers and sponsors without the heirs' knowledge, and also producing an advertisement using artificial intelligence technology depicting Al-Andaleeb without prior permission, which the family considered a clear infringement on the intellectual property rights of the late artist.
Qantoush clarified that the family had indeed contacted the Kuwaiti Minister of Information, the Minister of Culture, and the head of the Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Cultural Theatre, in addition to the Attorney General, demanding the cessation of the concert performances until the heirs' rights are fully satisfied.
He also mentioned that Nasser Al-Salaili, the family's lawyer in Kuwait, will submit an urgent request to the judge of temporary matters tomorrow morning to immediately stop the activities of the concerts, confirming that the family will provide all the necessary documents and investigation papers to prove their legal standing to the competent authorities.
The statement emphasized at the end that while the family does not oppose honoring the legacy of Abdel Halim Hafez, they reject any use of his name, image, or artistic history without respecting the rights of the heirs and the legal agreement terms.
