Khaberni - Khaberni - The city of Kolkata in India has completed the preparation of the huge statue for the Argentine legend Lionel Messi, which will be disclosed during his anticipated visit this week as part of his official tour in the country.
The statue has been erected in Lake Town – Sribhumi, and stands about 70 feet tall including the base, making it the world's largest statue of a living football star, reflecting his immense popularity in India.
This is Messi's first visit to India in 14 years, and his tour is scheduled to include four cities: Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, and New Delhi, before concluding with an official meeting with the Prime Minister of India. The tour aims to enhance interaction with fans and to present cultural and sports events that combine sports, art, and entertainment.
During his visit to Kolkata, Messi will participate in a “Meet & Greet” event with his fans, in addition to the official unveiling of the statue. There is also a planned celebratory seven-a-side match as part of the “GOAT Cup”, featuring Messi along with local stars and celebrities, aimed at entertainment and interaction with fans, and it is not an official international match.
This event is part of a strategy to enhance Messi's global presence and reflects the significant interest of Indian fans in football, particularly in the Argentine star. Thousands of fans await him in each city of the tour. The statue and associated events confirm the unique status Messi enjoys, not only as a player but as a global sports and cultural icon.
