US House Approves Repeal of Caesar Act Regarding Syria

Khaberni - The US House of Representatives has agreed to repeal the Caesar Act, which imposed American sanctions on Syria, following a vote by the council on Wednesday in majority favor of the national defense budget bill, which includes the Caesar Act.

The US Congress had enacted the Caesar Act on December 11, 2019, to punish key figures of the ousted Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's regime for war crimes committed against civilians in Syria.

The repeal of the Act would pave the way for the return of investments and foreign aid to support the new Syrian administration.
