The Tuning in Friday Sermon
Author: مجدي محمد محيلان

Khaberni - Tuning: It is the error in parsing, as Allah Almighty said (and you will surely recognize them by the tone of their speech) in Surah Muhammad, verse 30
and the poet said: A language when heard by us... becomes a relief on our livers
It will remain a bond unifying us... for it is the hope for the speaker of the Dad letter
Traditionally, the Friday sermon preacher played an important role in addition to delivering sermons; namely, correcting the public's misunderstandings of Arabic grammar, vocabulary, and verb structure, through the correctness of his pronunciation, letter articulation, and text accuracy. Thus, he was both a sheikh and a (teacher). Unfortunately, nowadays, the situation has reversed, and many worshippers are the ones teaching, while the preachers are the ones learning; no consideration for performance, nor articulation, nor Fathah, nor Kasrah, and so on, making us fear that our children may wander among many linguistic errors, believing them to be correct while they are not!
What adds insult to injury, and here is the witness: many of our esteemed preachers insist on improvising their sermons without the need to write them on paper so that it appears (from their point of view) more eloquent and not to be accused of inability to memorize or having a weak memory, and here I say if the preacher is eloquent, proficient, and confident, that is acceptable, but if it is generally otherwise, then what is the fault of the worshippers?! Truthfully and honestly, I say: even if many preachers are highly knowledgeable in Islamic sciences, they are less fortunate in the Arabic language (the language of the Quran) which God honored Arab with, and for instance, in one Friday sermon, the preacher made more than twenty tuning errors, grammatical and parsing mistakes that might alter the meaning and corrupt the intention.
In conclusion: why would not the Ministry of Endowments, which is keen on unifying the sermon topics, control the text grammatically and syntaxically and distribute it to the preachers so those who are not well-versed in language rules can benefit, and I suggest organizing Arabic language enhancement courses for some honored preachers so that they can become more proficient and reduce errors, thereby increasing the benefits for all.
And by the way, I would like to point out the issue of context, and unfortunately, I say that some preachers have weaknesses and (awkwardness) whether in using vocabulary and placing it where it should or in unnecessary repetition in certain places, which means they fail when trying to add to the sermon text sent to them by the ministry. If it is necessary, let the respected preachers adhere to the official sermon text so that it does not apply to them the saying (explaining water after effort with water), and may God have mercy on the poet Hafiz Ibrahim, who says:
They accused me of being infertile in youth, and I wish I had been... so I wouldn't be upset by the words of my enemies
I encompassed the book of Allah in expression and intent ... and never felt constrained by any of its verses and admonitions
