Khaberni - The Palestinian presidency condemned, on Wednesday, the Israeli occupation authorities' announcement of building 764 new settlement units in the West Bank, considering them as Israeli attempts to undermine all international efforts aimed at stopping violence and escalation and achieving stability in the region.
The official spokesperson for the presidency, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, said that the Israeli decision is unacceptable and violates international legitimacy and international law, especially Security Council Resolution 2334, which confirmed that settlements in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip, are illegitimate, emphasizing that these settlement decisions will not provide legitimacy or security for anyone.
Abu Rudeineh held the occupation government responsible for the dangerous repercussions of this destructive policy aimed at inflaming the region, dragging it into the cycle of violence and war, and undermining any effort that seeks to take the region out of the cycle of violence.
Abu Rudeineh called on the administration of President Donald Trump to pressure the occupation authorities to reverse the settlement policies, and attempts at annexation and expansion and theft of Palestinian land, and to force compliance with the rulings of international legitimacy and international law, to make successful President Trump's efforts and his endeavors to stop the war and achieve stability in the region.
