Khaberni - The Secretary-General for Administrative and Financial Affairs at the Ministry of Education, Sahar Al-Shakhatreh, said the ministry has dispensed with 50 rented schools this year as part of its plan to reduce dependence on rented buildings and provide an educational environment equipped with the best specifications.
This took place during its inauguration on Wednesday, in the presence of the Governor of Mafraq, Firas Abu Ghanem, at Hay Al-Zuhur Mixed Secondary School belonging to the Mafraq Castle Education Directorate, which was established with funding from the German Development Bank, at a cost of 2.7 million dinars.
She added that these school buildings were supported by His Majesty King Abdullah II, through international partnerships and the ministry's budget, increasing the number of schools and contributing to the dispensing of rented buildings and solving the problem of overcrowding in classrooms and schools.
She pointed out that this school represents a new station in the cooperation with international partners, meeting the highest educational requirements, serving students from kindergarten through high school, with a capacity of 1090 students, including 270 Syrian students.
She explained that this new school enabled the Ministry of Education to dispense with the rented building of Hay Al-Zuhur Basic School, in addition to stopping the double shift system, which positively reflected on providing a safe and motivating school environment.
In turn, the German Ambassador in Amman, Bertram von Moltke, said that Germany provides assistance to the Ministry of Education to build schools throughout the kingdom, noting that Hay Al-Zuhor Mixed Secondary School is part of a program to build 11 schools.
He pointed out that another program implemented by the German government involves paying salaries of teachers in 200 schools in exchange for teaching Syrian students in the evening shifts.
He noted that the creation of this building contributed to canceling the rented building for this school, in addition to ending the double shift system, which has a positive impact on students, including a number of Syrian students who integrated with Jordanian students in the morning period.
In turn, the Director of Education at Mafraq Castle, Iman Al-Khawaldeh, mentioned that the opening of the Hay Al-Zuhur Mixed Secondary School building alleviated some pressure on the area's schools, noting that the school includes 28 classrooms, computer and science laboratories, a vocational workshop, a library, and a multi-purpose hall, expressing her gratitude to the German government for constructing this school, the second in Mafraq Castle funded by the German Development Bank.
