Khaberni - French player Paul Pogba, currently at Monaco and a World Cup winner with the France national team, announced his entry into the world of camel racing through an investment in a professional Saudi team.
The Saudi team "Al-Haboob," the first professional camel racing team in the world, announced its collaboration with Pogba to become a shareholder and international ambassador of the team.
This partnership aims to develop the sport through enhancing media visibility, narrative storytelling, and community projects in this field.
Pogba told the BBC in an interview that he has become a fan of camel racing, spending a long time watching races on platforms such as "YouTube," trying to understand the techniques and strategies of the competition.
He added that what caught his attention in this sport is the dedication and teamwork required to achieve success, noting similarities between camel racing and football in terms of discipline and determination.
In discussing his new ambition, Pogba expressed his desire to one day own "the world's most expensive camel," considering that achieving this goal would be a special moment in his career after previously being the most expensive football player in history.
Camel racing is a sport with deep roots in Gulf culture, where animals compete in traditional races that have a significant presence in the Gulf community.
The sport is actively professional today, especially in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, with some camels valued in the millions and prizes in some tournaments reaching millions of dollars.
The team "Al-Haboob" hopes that Pogba's partnership will help bring the traditional sport together with the global audience, giving a significant boost to the identity of the competition and establishing it beyond the Gulf scope.
Paul Pogba (32 years old), a midfielder at Monaco, crowned with France's national team with the 2018 World Cup title and achieved numerous titles with major clubs such as Juventus and Manchester United.
He recently returned to the fields after completing a suspension due to doping, joining Monaco in June 2025 as a free transfer.
