Khaberni - The Meteorological Administration warned of the dangers of floods forming in valleys and low areas including the Dead Sea and the Jordan Valley areas, expecting occasional thunderstorms with the country being affected by the extension of a deep atmospheric depression.
The meteorology also warned of the danger of fog and clouds touching the ground surface above mountain heights and parts of the plains, and dust formation in the badlands.
On Wednesday, the kingdom will be affected by an extension of an atmospheric depression centered south of Cyprus, so the weather will be cold in most areas, partly cloudy to overcast at times, with rain showers intermittently in various regions of the kingdom including the city of Aqaba, according to the meteorological department's report.
It is expected that the rains will be heavy at times and for short periods in some areas accompanied by thunder and the fall of hailstones, which may lead to the possible formation of floods in the valleys and low areas, and with the night hours, the chance of rain decreases, with remaining cold and partly cloudy weather, and the winds are moderate speed southwesterly, active at times stirring the dust in the badlands.
The impact of the depression intensifies on Thursday, and the remnants of the weather event continue on Friday.
Beginning of the impact of the atmospheric depression
According to the Meteorological Administration, the weather will be cold and partly cloudy to overcast on Wednesday, and starting from noon, the kingdom will gradually be affected by an extension of an atmospheric depression centered south of the island of Cyprus.
Showers of rain will fall intermittently in various areas including Aqaba, and the rains will be heavy for short periods in some areas especially in the afternoon, with the possibility of thunder and hail falling.
The Meteorological Department indicated that these conditions may lead to the formation of floods in the valleys and low areas.
The winds will be moderate speed southwesterly, active at intervals and will stir the dust in the badlands.
The chance of precipitation gradually weakens at night, leaving cold and partly cloudy weather, and the winds are moderate speed southwesterly.
Peak impact of the atmospheric depression
On Thursday, the weather will be cold and overcast in most areas, as the impact of the atmospheric depression on the kingdom increases.
The Meteorological Department clarified that rain will fall intermittently in the north and center of the kingdom, as well as parts of the east and southwest of the kingdom.
It pointed out that the rains will be heavy at intervals accompanied by thunder and hail, warning of the formation of floods in the valleys and low areas, with rising water levels.
The winds will be moderate speed southwesterly, active at intervals, and will stir the dust.
Rainfall will continue at night in limited areas, with the weather remaining cold, overcast, and sometimes heavily rainy in some areas.
The remnants of the depression impact
The weather will be cold and partly cloudy to overcast on Friday, with showers of rain in the western regions of the kingdom.
According to the Meteorological Department, the rains may be heavy at times in the morning hours in the central and southwest of the kingdom, noting that in the evening, the chance of precipitation gradually weakens.
The weather will be cold and partly cloudy at night, and the winds are moderate speed westerly, active at intervals.
The Meteorological Department advises citizens to stay away from the paths of floods and valleys during the peak impact of the depression, and to be cautious of slipping on roads especially during peak rainy hours, and low visibility due to fog and dust which necessitates careful driving.
