Khaberni - Zaid Al-Kilani, the Chief of Pharmacists, said on Wednesday that NAD+ injections are an enzyme present in the body, derived from B3, and have become used against aging, confirming that the NAD+ products seized by the Food and Drug Administration are unmonitored.
Al-Kilani added that NAD+ products are not sold in pharmacies, pointing out that administering these products without medical supervision can activate latent or autoimmune diseases.
The Chief of Pharmacists explained that he addressed customs to coordinate the entry of some medicines with travelers to ensure the purpose of use, whether personal or for distribution.
Withdrawal of unlicensed NAD+ products and injections from two clinics
On Tuesday, inspection teams in the Directorate of Medical Devices and Supplies and the Drug Directorate at the Public Institution for Food and Drug conducted an extensive inspection campaign on the medical clinic and beauty center sector in Amman, which included a field survey, data collection, and directed quality control operations for specific objectives.
During the campaign, NAD+ injection products were seized and withdrawn, along with other unauthorized injections used in Biohacking practices and intravenous injections of dietary supplements, inside an unlicensed beauty center and a pain treatment and palliative care clinic.
The institution confirmed that the inspection teams confiscated the entire quantities and took the necessary legal actions against the two facilities, due to the use of non-compliant and unregistered products, and for engaging in medical practices outside the legal and medical framework.
By tracking the source of these injections, it was revealed that they entered the kingdom personally with some travelers, and did not enter through the formal pathways or official channels subject to the control of the Public Institution for Food and Drug.
This campaign is part of a routine and stringent control plan directed by Rana Obaidat, the General Director of the Public Institution for Food and Drug, aimed at controlling violations in the beauty and medical clinic sector, especially practices related to intravenous injections of unregistered substances and supplements that are used in violation of the law.
The institution clarified that monitoring is continuous around the clock, and it will not tolerate dealing with any facility or individual who uses or trades unlicensed products, or engages in any medical activity without legal licensing and formal registration.
