The head of the Islamic National Party parliamentary bloc, lawyer Mustafa Al-Amawi, emphasized that the government must support national agriculture and protect small farmers.
Al-Amawi said, during his speech in the discussion of the general budget law today, Wednesday, that farmers in the south of the kingdom have come to sell 10 kilograms of potatoes for one dinar, which is less than the cost of production, increasing the size of losses and pressures on them.
He called on the government to review the major investment projects that are not completed, pointing out that investors do not continue with their projects when they see huge projects that are stalled or incomplete.
He also demanded support for the Audit Bureau, the Food and Drug Corporation, the Standards and Metrology Organization, and the financial oversight bodies, warning of the consequences of neglect in these institutions, and indicating a lack of clarity in the government's economic vision.
