Khaberni - A senior U.S. official stated that discussions regarding the transition to the second phase in the Gaza Strip are making progress, despite all the difficulties.
They added that negotiations for the second phase face tough problems, multiple challenges, and differing viewpoints.
The official stated that negotiations for transitioning to the second phase in the Gaza plan are conducted behind closed doors to ensure progress is made.
They continued, "We expect the deployment of the first contingents of the International Stabilization Force in Gaza at the beginning of 2026, initially involving one or two countries."
They further added, "The International Stabilization Force will not be deployed in areas under Hamas control in the Gaza Strip."
The discussions focus on providing forces, command structure, deployment process, rules of engagement, and logistical support. We are conducting discussions with several countries regarding their contribution to the International Stabilization Force, including Arab countries.
They mentioned that the participation of the United States in leading the International Stabilization Force is still under discussion, and the Security Council's decision regarding Gaza is clear concerning the Israeli withdrawal in the context of the second phase.
The official mentioned that the United States is engaged in discussions to form the Palestinian police force in the Gaza Strip, and both Trump’s peace plan and the Security Council resolution are clear regarding disarming the Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip.
They added, "We are still in the planning stage of forming a Palestinian police force from residents of the Gaza Strip, and the coordination center is working to remove obstacles to increase humanitarian aid to Gaza both in amount and quality."
The U.S. official acknowledged the need for specific additional aid in Gaza that has not yet been provided, and efforts are underway to supply this.
