Greater Amman Municipality Announces Emergency Status Extreme Water Starting Tomorrow Morning

Khaberni - The Greater Amman Municipality has announced an emergency status (Extreme Water) effective from tomorrow morning, Wednesday, in order to deal with the low pressure system affecting the kingdom.

Dr. Nasser Al-Rahamneh, the media spokesperson for the Amman Municipality, confirmed the readiness of the municipality's field staff to handle any reports received by the Tla' Al-Ali emergency room, urging citizens to call the unified call center numbers (102 and 117180) if they observe any issues.

Al-Rahamneh called on citizens to take precautions and avoid areas near watercourses and low-lying areas, not to connect roof downspouts directly to sewer manholes to prevent flooding on the roads, and to avoid littering randomly as it might clog the rainwater drainage lines.

He also emphasized the importance of checking the submersible pumps in basements and shops located below street level, and urged merchants to take precautionary measures when storing goods in warehouses and basements.

Al-Rahamneh appealed to contractors and owners of construction projects to secure building materials to prevent them from being washed away and directly causing the blockage of rainwater drainage lines.
