Khaberni - The Hebrew newspaper Maariv reported that the Israeli occupying state has informed Jordan that it does not intend to deliver the agreed annual water quota to the kingdom.
It pointed out that Tel Aviv will not supply Jordan with about 50 million cubic meters of water, as stipulated in the "peace" agreement signed in 1994.
According to the newspaper, the Israelis say the problem is technical related to water and pricing, while the Jordanian Water Ministry says the issue is not engineering.
The newspaper claimed that Jordan had previously shown willingness to negotiate the pricing, and there has been no response from "Israel" so far.
Under the peace treaty "Wadi Araba" signed between the two sides in 1994, Israel supplies Jordan with 50 million cubic meters annually from the waters of Lake Tiberias, which are transported through the King Abdullah Canal to the kingdom, in exchange for one cent (the dollar = 100 cents) per cubic meter.
In 2021, Jordan and Israel reached an agreement whereby the latter would supply the kingdom with an additional 50 million cubic meters of water purchased under an agreement signed between them in 2010, which emerged from the 1994 agreement.
