King and Prime Minister of Albania Preside Aqaba Meetings at the Baptism Site of Jesus Christ

Khaberni - His Majesty King Abdullah II and Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, on Tuesday, co-chaired a new round of the "Aqaba Meetings" initiative, organized jointly with Albania, held at the baptism site of Jesus Christ, peace be upon him, (Al-Maghtas).

The round, which was held for the fourth time around the Balkans, focused on ways to enhance interfaith dialogue and affirm the commonalities to promote security and peace. At the end of the meetings, participants agreed that the shared responsibilities towards societies in the Balkans require the enhancement of brotherly cooperation, understanding, and respect among them.

They pointed out that the commonalities should serve as a fundamental pillar and reference for these societies in their interactions with one another, fostering a sense of responsibility and solidarity for the future of the peoples of the Middle East and Europe.

The meetings were attended by HRH Prince Ghazi bin Mohammad, the King's Chief Adviser for Religious and Cultural Affairs and his personal envoy, featuring Islamic and Christian religious leaders from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Slovenia, Romania, Serbia, Hungary, Montenegro, in addition to Jerusalem, Syria, and Jordan.

Since the launch of the "Aqaba Meetings" initiated by His Majesty the King 10 years ago, its previous rounds have been held in Jordan, and in the countries of Spain, Albania, Indonesia, Italy, Brazil, Bulgaria, Rwanda, Singapore, the United Kingdom, Norway, Nigeria, the Netherlands, the United States, in addition to the United Nations, in partnership with the Kingdom.
