Official estimates for 2026 revealed the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority's intention to create two new positions next year, with allocations estimated at 1.2 million dinars to cover salary increases.
According to a summary of the budget bill monitored by Khaberni, the number of positions in the Petra Authority is expected to rise from 830 to 832.
Conversely, according to the bill's summary, recurrent expenditures are estimated to rise by about 2 million dinars, including 1.2 million dinars to cover the natural annual salary increase and costs of vacancies, new creations, and other appointments.
The actual revenues of the authority in 2024 were about 12 million dinars, and were estimated for 2025 at 42.4 million dinars, but were re-estimated at 18.2 million dinars, while estimated for 2026 at about 39 million dinars.
The deficit (or) surplus item in the authority's budget showed an actual deficit of 5.7 million dinars in 2024 and an estimated surplus of about 1.5 million dinars for 2025, which, upon re-estimation, turned into a deficit of 4.28 million dinars, while the authority estimated a surplus of 1.4 million dinars for the year 2026.
