MP Ahmad Al-Qatawneh, a member of the Islamic Action Front party's faction, during his speech in the discussions on the public budget law project, raised questions about the current American ambassador’s tours to a number of ministries and official institutions, which recently sparked a wide controversy regarding their legality and constitutionality.
Al-Qatawneh asked, "Do the scale and type of visits undertaken by the current American ambassador conform to the diplomatic standards and protocols in Jordan?" adding, "What is the nature of the role played by the embassy? And does the government have a clear policy regulating the activities of foreign ambassadors in internal and community affairs?"
The deputy emphasized that it is necessary for the government to clarify these issues in order to establish trust and avoid any misinterpretations of the nature of those diplomatic movements.
