Khaberni - In a video that shook consciences around the world and made thousands of Syrians cry 13 years ago, 6-year-old Ali Mustafa Al-Mohammad appeared crying, talking about the pain of war and displacement from his town in Kafr Nabudah in rural Hama, and the suffering of displaced Syrians.
In the widely-spread video, the young boy recounted his and his family's suffering due to displacement: "Bashar al-Assad killed us... looted us... demolished our homes... what did we do to him... what is our fault.."
But the owner of that famous quote appeared again last night Monday in the anniversary of "Liberation Day," 13 years after the famous video, and a year after the fall of Assad, making the audience cry also at the Damascus Conference Palace.
The young Ali ascended the stage, talking about his pain and also his hopes for a new future for Syria, in words that made many of the attendees cry, including the Syrian president Ahmad Al-Shar'a and his wife, who appeared moved.
Late on, Al-Shar'a ascended the stage and hugged the young man, patting his shoulder in a touching moment commemorating the anniversary of the fall of the former regime.
