322 of Workers in Tourist Restaurants are NonJordanians

Khaberni - The number of workers in tourist restaurants in Jordan had reached 23,891 by the end of last September, the majority of whom are Jordanians, while the number of these restaurants amounted to 1,388 touristic restaurants.

According to data based on figures from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the number of Jordanian workers in these restaurants amounted to 16,098, compared to 7,793 non-Jordanians, representing 32.2% (non-Jordanians) of the total number of workers, which is 23,891.

Looking at the geographical distribution of the workforce, the capital Amman has the highest number of workers, amounting to 19,905, while in the Azraq region the number does not exceed 6 workers.

The data also shows that the number of tourist restaurants reached 1,388, the majority of which are concentrated in the capital Amman with a number reaching 1,032 restaurants, while there are only two tourist restaurants in Azraq.

The Cabinet recently approved a set of regulations related to the tourism sector, aimed at supporting the sector and addressing the challenges it faces.

This included the approval of an amended system for the system of the Association of Tourist Restaurants for the year 2025, which aims to align the formation of the board of directors of the Jordanian Association of Tourist Restaurants and the procedures for classifying tourist restaurants, in accordance with the amendments made to the Tourism Law by virtue of the amended law No. 9 for the year 2024, in addition to setting the amount of membership fees and annual subscription in the association according to the classifications of tourist restaurants.

The system also aims to enable the association to carry out its tasks in raising the level of the profession and developing it.
