Khaberni - A village in Egypt experienced widespread anxiety after reports of crocodiles appearing in a water canal, prompting the relevant authorities to take immediate action and comb the area for the second consecutive day.

Specialized teams continue search efforts in the Bilbeis canal in front of Al-Sidra village, belonging to Al-Zawamil, following repeated reports from residents about spotting crocodiles in the waterway, an incident that has raised significant concerns about the safety of the local people, especially given the canal's proximity to residential areas.

In the past few hours, the concerned teams carried out extensive combing operations spanning about 3 kilometers, with the participation of divers and civil protection forces, without capturing any crocodile so far, while the scanning operations continue for the second day in response to residents' complaints.

In turn, the official veterinary authorities confirmed that their teams had indeed spotted one crocodile and are currently attempting to extract it and deal with it safely, protecting both the residents and the wildlife simultaneously, noting that the combing operations will continue until the crocodile is captured or it is conclusively confirmed that the canal is completely free of any other crocodiles.

Several residents had filed official reports in which they confirmed spotting crocodiles of various sizes in the canal at different times, documenting these sightings with photos and video clips.

They explained that the first appearance dates back to about a year ago, before sightings recurred about five months ago, suggesting the presence of more than one crocodile in the waterway.
