Khaberni - The House of Representatives continues today, Tuesday, to discuss the Public Budget Bill for the fiscal year 2026 under the Parliament dome after it was approved by the Finance Committee on Sunday.
A number of deputies and parliamentary blocs yesterday, Monday, delivered their speeches commenting on the public budget, following the presentation of the bill report by the rapporteur of the Financial Committee.
The General Secretariat in the Council allocated 15 minutes for the parliamentary blocs to speak under the dome, and 10 minutes for the member deputies, according to a previous decision by the Executive Office.
After the deputies finish presenting their speeches and opinions on the budget, the government responds with a speech by the Minister of Finance in response to the deputies' discussion, after which the voting on the bill, item by item, takes place.
The Parliamentary Financial Committee, chaired by Nimer Al-Sleihat, approved on Sunday the Public Budget Bill for the fiscal year 2026, after concluding its discussions that spanned over 104 meetings from November 25 to December 7, and included all ministries, departments, and government units listed in the budget.
Al-Sleihat said that the committee conducted an in-depth technical study that involved analyzing the budget items, assessing the impact of public expenditures, evaluating economic indicators, in addition to reviewing the reflection of 230 government decisions on economic and social conditions, and discussing allocations for social safety networks.
