Khaberni - The German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment has recommended consuming cinnamon in moderation, as high doses of "coumarin" found in cinnamon can cause damage to the liver.
The Institute explained that the allowable daily intake of coumarin is 0.1 milligrams per kilogram of body weight, indicating that this amount can be consumed daily for a lifetime without expecting any health risks.
The Institute indicated that Ceylon cinnamon is better than Cassia cinnamon because the coumarin content in the former is much lower.
