Khaberni - The Jerash Governorate Council Committee discussed today, Monday, during a consultative session, a set of local priority issues, especially those related to the development of the level of services and the enhancement of community integration for persons with mobility disabilities.
The chairman of the committee, Dr. Jihad Da'drah, stated that the session was part of the council's keenness on following the social and service reality in the governorate, standing on top of the main challenges that require practical solutions and clear execution plans, contributing to improving the level of services provided to citizens in various areas.
The committee discussed a number of developmental files, affirming the importance of continuous monitoring of ongoing projects, and directing efforts towards enhancing the efficiency of facilities and infrastructure, to meet the needs of the local community and keep up with the requirements of growth.
It emphasized the necessity of preparing public facilities and service institutions to be accessible for this category, and providing vocational training and rehabilitation programs that contribute to enhancing their skills and increasing their chances of obtaining suitable job opportunities.
The committee called for enhancing partnerships with the public and private sectors to create sustainable job opportunities for persons with disabilities, alongside intensifying awareness programs that contribute to spreading the culture of respecting their rights and ensuring their full participation in public life.
The committee also discussed mechanisms of cooperation with the Ministry of Social Development, the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and civil society institutions in Jerash, aiming to implement joint initiatives that meet the needs of this category and enhance their community presence.
At the end of the session, Da'drah and council members confirmed that the file of persons with disabilities will remain at the forefront of the council's priorities during the upcoming period, noting the importance of continuing dialogue and consultation to reach practical solutions that ensure the expansion of empowerment and improvement of services provided to them in Jerash Governorate.
