Khaberni - WhatsApp, owned by Meta, is testing a feature for Android that allows sharing of the recent chat history in groups, which enables new members in the group to see the messages from the last 24 hours to understand the context.

This update will allow new participants in the group to communicate immediately while ensuring the security and encryption of conversations.

This upcoming feature will allow group admins to share the group's recent chat history with new members, according to the website "WABetaInfo," which specializes in WhatsApp updates.

Thanks to this feature, new members can easily view recent messages, by allowing current members to share the chat history automatically as soon as a new user joins, provided that the admin has activated this feature.

Messages remain fully encrypted, ensuring that only intended recipients can read them.

This means that if a user joins a group via an invite link or is manually added by one of the admins, they will immediately see the recent messages in the group.

Currently, WhatsApp does not allow new members who join an existing group to see any of the messages sent before they joined.

The process is limited to a specific recent period, currently covering the last 24 hours, with the possibility to adjust this period in future releases.

WhatsApp is considering setting a maximum limit for the recent messages that can be shared up to 1,000 messages in 24 hours, to address the issue of very active groups that share hundreds of messages every day.

As the feature is still under development, the duration covered by this feature may be changed before its official release.

This feature is still under development and is expected to be rolled out by WhatsApp for Android users in the coming weeks.
